As part of the Nou Barris Festival, "Let's Do Nanoscience!!" invites children and families to discover the invisible world of nanotechnology through surprising and fun experiments. Chemical clocks, iridescent materials and spherifications will allow us to observe phenomena that the eye cannot see and know how nanoscience is present in our daily lives.
Specific goals | Temary
Let's Do Nanoscience!! is a participatory and experiential activity aimed at children between 6 and 12 years old and their families, which proposes an immersion in the fascinating world of nanoscience and nanotechnology through direct experimentation, play and surprise.
The activity begins with a brief introduction to scientific work and the STEAM concept, explaining in an accessible way what nanotechnology is and what it is for. From there, the children become little scientists and start experimenting with different practical proposals:
- The iodine clock, a surprising chemical experiment that shows how and when seemingly invisible changes occur, helping them to understand that "not everything is what it seems".
- Iridescent layers, where a bookmark or similar element is made that allows us to observe optical effects such as iridescence and understand how size and structure influence the appearance of materials.
- Nanoencapsulation or spherification, a technique that fascinates young and old, and which serves to explain real applications of nanotechnology in fields such as food, health or industry.

General information
The programme EstàsON places special emphasis on promoting scientific and technological vocations from childhood, reinforcing curiosity, critical thinking and interest in science, with an inclusive perspective that promotes the participation of girls and boys in equality. An ideal program to discover that science can be fun, surprising and very close.
